ITV Player premium app comes to iPhone, iPad

ITV has launched a premium version of its ITV Player application for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

The new service gives viewers the option to view content across ITV, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV, as well as live simulcast of ITV3 and ITV4 via WiFi and 3G, ad-free for £3.99 per month.

ITV will continue to offer its ad-supported ITV Player mobile service, and provide live simulcast of its flagship channel and ITV2 through the software.

Users will be given the option to sign up for the premium service when they update their app.

“As ITV Player on mobile devices continues to grow – over 7 million downloads on iOS to date – it is important we deliver innovative business models and adapt the product to the evolving market,” said Steven Power, project manager for ITV Player on mobile.

“I’m genuinely excited that we’re the first commercial broadcaster to offer viewers the choice to watch content with or without advertising.”

The launch of the new service sees ITV become the first commercial broadcaster to offer ad-free playback on mobile.
