Leaked image shows iPhone cover in green

For a couple of months now there has been a couple of rumors floating around that suggest that Apple is going to release a low-cost iPhone when the iPhone 5S shows up this year. None of the rumors have been confirmed by anyone, but more information keeps showing up on the web that is certainly indicating that consumers could get the option to spend a little less for iPhone greatness. The iPhone 5S is expected to be released in the fall of this year along with the lower cost option right after that. Rumors suggest that it will feature an iPod like design.

The two images that were posted on an online source make it hard to tell exactly what material is being used for the rear case. If Apple is going to be offering up a lower cost option then it could be possible that the company goes with a polycarbonate option for the case. This would reduce the overall cost unlike using an all metal design. The image also indicates that the phone will have a uni-body construction. On the inside of the body, it does appear that Apple has used a metal plate inside the cover, possible to give the phone a little more protection and strength.

The overall design is very similar to the iPod Touch with straight edges and the rounded corners that have been well known on Apple products for years. Other features that can be taken from the photos include a camera on the back side, with a single LED flash and a microphone hole situated around the same location. The iPhone 5S is expected to have a dual-LED flash for the camera on the back side, which is one reason this leaked image is expected to be the lower cost model. Multiple colors was also rumored to be coming for the lower cost option.

It is not clear how the lower cost model is going to affect sales of the iPhone 5S, but if consumers want a little bit of color with their iPhone, there is no reason to buy the more expensive model, especially if you get iPhone features for less with more color. Apple is trying to appeal to every level of smartphone user with the lower cost option, but at the same time the company could be going down the path that leads to ruining a very good consumer relationship.
