Office Mobile now available for Apple

Microsoft has announced Office Mobile for iPhone and has made it available at the App Store at no extra charge for Office 365 Home Premium and Office 365 ProPlus subscribers.

“Similar to our free Office Mobile for Windows Phone that we ship with every handset, the iPhone app enables great office content viewing and on-the-go content editing capabilities,” says Julia White, General Manager of the Microsoft Office division.

Microsoft Office 365 is available for both Home and Business versions. Some of the unique features of Office 365 are that it can be installed on more than one PC and that it allows documents to be stored online using a cloud model. Cloud technology has been on the rise lately to back up files on the internet.

Office 365 was launched earlier this year and has now been expanded to include features such as Skype calling and One Note. Office 365 has the latest application of Word 2013, Excel 2013, PowerPoint 2013, Outlook 2013, OneNote 2013, Access 2013 and Publisher 2013 with the online storage SkyDrive.

Andy O’Donald, Microsoft’s Technical Product Manager, assured consumers that “Word, Excel and PowerPoint are optimized for the iPhone screen making the documents look great”.

With Word, you can read, edit and create new documents. With Excel, you can work with workbook, worksheets, graph, chart and Smart Art Graphics. In Powerpoint, you can create and review your slides, edit speaker notes, move and hide slides and make text edits directly from your phone.

To run Office on your iPhone, you need an Office 365 subscription that includes the desktop office client. After downloading the Office 365 Mobile App on your iPhone, sign-in with your credentials to gain access.

Office Mobile can be installed on iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 or iPod Touch 5th Generation. The device must have iOS 6.1 or the updated versions installed.
